In this newsletter we would like to inform you among other things about the DONIC news of the season 2010/2011. Attached please find a complete list of the new products including a detailed description and delivery date as well as a discontinued articles list. The new DONIC catalogue will be published by mid-June and will be sent to you together with the new price list.
For the season 2010/2011 our new rubber sheets surely present the most important innovations. Since the introduction of the speed glue ban our focus was on the development of rubber sheets with inbuilt speed glue effect in order to completely compensate the positive effect of the former speed glueing and to offer the player high performance rubber sheets without using speed glue or tuner.
The result of this development work will be presented for the new season with the new FD3 – rubber technology. FD3 stands for FORMULA DONIC Third Generation. This technology includes two rubber sheet series which are different in top sheet as well as in sponge. Players who prefer spin before speed and want a high curve of the flight for their top spin will find the perfect rubber sheet in the ACUDA series. The ACUDA series is spin-optimized. Players who expect apart from high spin also maximum speed prefer a rubber from the COPPA X series. The COPPA X series is speed-optimized. Within the two rubber series the difference is the hardness of the sponge so that any player is able to make the right choice, perfectly adjusted to their playing style and practising time effort.
Acuda S1, Coppa X1 Turbo (Platin) > hard sponge (each 47,5°)
Coppa X1 (Gold) - > medium hard sponge (45°)
Acuda S2, Coppa X2 (Platin Soft) > medium hard sponge (42,5°)
Acuda S3, Coppa X3 (Silver) > soft sponge (37,5°)
FD3 – rubber sheets have got considerably more speed glue effect. This plus in speed and dynamic has an even stronger impact on the medium hard (Acuda S2, Coppa X2) and above all the softer versions (Acuda S3, Coppa X3). The player got a much better feeling when playing active and passive shots without having to miss out on high speed and spin.
Due to the changed pimple structure and rubber mixture the number of possible playing hours have been advanced considerably. All Acuda and Coppa X versions will be on stock on 10 June!
DONIC VARIO COOPER SPEED
Fans of rubber sheets made in Japan will find with the new DONIC Vario Cooper Speed, a rubber sheet with inbuilt speed glue effect which is perfectly balanced and dynamic.
With the Akkadi L1 DONIC finally developed a second Akkadi long pimple rubber sheet. While the special features of the all-rounder Akkadi L2 - apart from the controlled defensive game away from the table, are close to the table where he convinces by superb control when producing “spoiling” shots during attack, the Akkadi L1 supports classical defensive game away from the table with heavy backspin and good control. This rubber offers good dynamic for an attacking game.
NEW DONIC BLADES
DONIC BURN series: Thermic treated blades exposed to high temperature and a fine selection of veneers. A lot of test players positively described the features of the new BURN blades as “perfectly balanced, harmonic and relatively light”.
DONIC Ovtcharov Soft Carbon: Normally Carbon blades are more rigid and more directly. Similar to the blade best-seller Waldner Senso Carbon the most remarkable feature of the Ovtcharov Soft Carbon is its exceptional feeling and amazing ball control qualities. Due to the walnut outer veneer it’s a bit more direct and a bit faster.
DONIC Alligator Combi: New defensive blade with faster forehand side.
The new DONIC TEXTILE COLLECTION has recently been extended by some more new products.
The DONIC SPEEDFLEX shoe is a light table tennis shoe with good flexibility and replaces the Megaflex in the lower price segment.
The DONIC BASIC shorts are plain black shorts which can easily be combined with all shirts and T-shirts.
DONIC ROLLERBAG: Travelling bag with roller wheels and pull-out handle in the design of the new black bag Superior.
GERMAN NATIONAL TEAM
We congratulate the German National Men’s Team on winning the silver medal and the German National Ladies’ Team on surprisingly winning the bronze medal at the Team World Championships in Moscow. During approx. 15 years DONIC was the equipment supplier of the German National Teams!
Steffen Fetzner works for DONIC
Another World Champion in the team
Steffen Fetzner, who made table tennis history in Germany when winning the World Champion title in the men’s doubles in 1989, will work for DONIC in future. The 41-year old returned from Qatar early March where he worked as head coach for the table tennis association there. Since that time various companies, clubs and associations tried to recruit him, among others also the German Table Tennis Association. “There were also an option to work as a coach for the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB)”, he confirmed. “Rossi wanted to have me in his team of trainers”. But I have declined that, as it’s not possible to do everything.”
On 01 June Fetzner had started a full-time job with DONIC – and a new era. “Speedy will work in marketing, promotion and sales”, said Frank Schreiner, CEO of the company. “The focus will be Asia. The market there offers a huge potential for us.”
Also regarding product development DONIC will profit of the expertise of the long-time world top player. Fetzner is looking forward to his new task which will include various business trips. “I know that from the time as player and coach and I have always liked that at lot.” The decisive point to refuse all other offers and to start with DONIC finally was among other things his personal relationship to Schreiner: “Frank and me have been very good friends for many years”, says Fetzner.
After the Swedish legends Jan-Ove Waldner, Jörgen Persson and Mikael Appelgren as well as the Chinese Li Ping, the traditional company in the Saarland/Germany finally has with him the fifth World Champion in its team.
NEW EVENTS ON DONIC TABLES
Euro-Asia All Star Series 2010 in Mons / Belgium (12 - 13 October 2010)
and European Veteran Championships 2011 in Liberec / Czech Republic
After the European Championships 2007 in Belgrade and 2009 in Stuttgart as well as the Veteran European Championships 2009 in Porec, we are pleased having again become equipment supplier for two further big European events in the ETTU. The competition Europe – Asia on 12/13 October 2010 in Mons / Belgium gets a broad media interest with a huge TV presence on both continents. A bit less image carrying, but not less popular for a lot of players are the Veteran European Championships which will take place in Liberec/Czech Republic in 2011 and presents one of the biggest table tennis events at all with far more than 2.ooo participants from the whole of Europe.
ITTF PRO TOUR AUSTRIA OPEN 2010
As already in 2007 and 2008 DONIC will also be the equipment sponsor of the ITTF PRO TOUR AUSTRIA OPEN which will take place in mid-October in Wels / Austria.
As usual we’ll set once more the stage for top level table tennis sport with our high-quality DONIC competition tables.
